HIDE & SEEK
To follow Tao seems pointless.
To search for awareness is counterproductive.
To seek enlightenment: stay still!Tao is like fallen rain on thirsty soil:
On the surface, Tao seems gone and all is dry;
But Tao sinks deep, refreshing roots.Tao seems deceptive, yet is utterly honest.
Tao seems tricky and twisted, yet is completely straightforward.
Tao seems hidden and barely perceived, yet stands clearly in plain sight.
Never evasive!
Ever elusive!
Tao!
There is no
point in 'following' Tao: you will never catch up! Wait
patiently like a birdwatcher, for the shy creature to make
itself known.
Too much 'awareness' can
become like a drug which
paralyses action. Balance stillness with activity, and
don't get hooked on
either.
Trying to
'understand' or 'make sense of' Tao soon leads to
bafflement with its seeming contradictions,
inconsistencies and absurdities.
To become familiar with Tao entails a balancing of
intellectual with instinctive, creative or meditative
modes of the personality.
