FINDING THE WAY
If a sage gives directions:
They are clear, concise and complete. If a braggart gives directions:
They are imprecise and unreliable. If a charlatan gives directions:
They seem convincing, but are misleading.
Only a fool asks Tao for directions!
Only one direction suffices:
Ask the Way?
Find your own!
With its
much-revered reputation for suggesting sound advice, it is
unsurprising that Taoism has been linked to divinatory
practices.
A well-known example is the art of Feng-Shui, which aims
to apply Taoist concepts to architecture, landscaping and
interior design.
However
the sage regards such practices as superficial diversions
or distractions, or even debasements, from the
'primordial' Tao.
Tao's influence lies not in bringing
good fortune, but in enhancing the ability, skills and
approach to seeking, recognising and transmitting it.
