Compared to Tao, no-one is that brilliant.
But by standing in the Way,
the sage casts a lovely lustre.Compared to Tao, nothing seems so dark and obscure.
But in seeking enlightenment,
the sage casts a friendly glow.
Compared to Tao, no idea is so clear, yet seems so muddled.
But by muddling through,
the sage brings clarity.

Taoism does not
intrude brashly into people's lives, recognising that
purposeful attempts to 'sell' itself provoke mistrust and
arouse opposition.
As with the 'wonders' of
the natural world, it exists for itself, but is a resource on
which we can draw for inspiration and guidance through life.
The devastating
repercussions of callous, greedy or even malicious
exploitation and manipulation of nature, are of huge
significance worldwide.
Such actions reflect an outlook which is out of touch with, or
actively despises, the principles of Taoism which it is the
sage's task to uphold.
