SECOND
NATURE
To pick the crop:
lose your self amongst green growth.
To
take the flood:
become attuned to the rhythm of the tides.
To
bask in sunshine:
know how to take the heat.
To
rest in stillness:
learn to weather gales.
Composed?
Well-versed!
The 'green-fingered gardener',
the mariner with 'salt in their veins', the
politician who knows 'how the world wags':
all manifest an instinctive understanding or
rapport with 'the way of things'.
Taoism promotes and develops this ability
or 'feel', which complements and overarches the 'textbook'
knowledge of facts, events and methods.
This approach attempts to align human nature in a
partnership with the natural world, rather than in
opposition to it, or in ignorance of it.
