Stay put, until wind drops and dust settles,
to see the way ahead clearly.
Keep quiet, whilst rage subsides and peace emerges,
to hear the undertone of harmony.Still thought, as confusion disperses and reflection steadies,
to know the unknowingness of Tao.Rest easy, when muscles relax and joints loosen.
In the poise of idleness, action gestates.
Unmoving?
To move on!
The exercise or practice of
attaining stillness, in various forms, is widely
recognised and commended as a beneficial influence
on health.
It is valued as an obvious balance to
energetic physical or mental activity, and plays a central
role in many types of yoga or meditation.
Tao portrays stillness
or tranquillity as providing a path from disorder to
order, or as an opportunity to recover balance from
instability.
By bringing the 'busy-ness' of rational trains of thought
to a standstill, and allowing emotional 'noise' to fall
silent,
other forms of awareness and understanding can become
apparent, and Tao can begin to 'make sense'.
